Data Processors organised for volunteers from our Hobart and Melbourne offices (pictured), to help out at Foodbank for the day.
Foodbank is an organisation that takes donations and surplus food from supermarkets, and distributes it to charities who then pass it on to people in need. Volunteers help pack food for delivery to those in need locally.
Here is what our employees had to say:
Hobart: “It was really good to support an organisation that supports people who need help desperately – for example, the recent bush fires in Tasmania left a lot of people temporarily displaced, and the evacuation centres (such as the Hobart Police and Community Youth Club (PCYC)) needed support to help these people. Foodbank worked tirelessly to help these evacuation centres, in addition to maintaining their much-needed aid to the wider community.”
Melbourne: “By the end of the day we filled all our orders, which they said was quite unusual. We all felt as though we had put in a hard day’s work. All of us really enjoyed the experience and felt it was very rewarding and worthwhile. It is also worth noting that although Foodbank do have fulltime staff, most of the orders are filled by volunteers and they cannot actually function without them.”
Data Processors will be looking to return support Foodbank and other worthy local causes through its employee volunteer program in 2020.
